PDM Team Raises £13,000 for Macmillan Charity

Once upon a time 4 people said they were thinking about walking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks – before they knew it there was a team of 37 all raising sponsorship for Macmillan Cancer Support.

On a very sunny day in June this year, a team from PDM’s Doncaster site set off on this epic challenge.

Chris Dunn, the walk organiser said “It started with a few people wanting to take part and just snowballed! Everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer in some way and this was a way to give something back to an organisation which has helped so many people”.

Some people did one or two peaks but many did all 3 peaks and achieved some really personal goals. This was no small challenge and not only did they do it in style they really worked together as a team to ensure everyone who wanted to achieve a goal had the support and team spirit to carry them through the experience.

The team found inspiration to keep walking from a number sources, including as one walker said “the thought of a beer at the end really kept me going!”

Sarah Teale from Macmillan said “I am so thrilled to be receiving such a wonderful amount of sponsorship this team have raised. Everyone worked so hard and the money they have raised is going to help so many people needing help from Macmillan.”

The team at PDM Group, headed up by Chris Dunn, have raised a staggering £13,000!! A wonderful achievement for a team of dedicated and enthusiastic fundraisers. They are already planning their next challenge for next year!
