Business: APC (GB) Ltd is a manufacturer of pet food ingredients and is a joint venture between the SARIA and LGI Group, America. This is a small but highly motivated operation based in Doncaster and is supplying ingredients to the main pet food Companies in the UK and distributes all over the world.
The Position:
Applications are invited for an Apprentice Blood Technician based at our Doncaster Site. This is a full time apprenticeship (with study release). As an Apprentice Blood Technician you will train to become a fully qualified and competent Blood Technician and your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include:
- To assist in the installations of abattoirs. To inform the company in a timely manner of any issues that may arise.
- Dismantling components and equipment and assembling mechanical components.
- Diagnose faults on the equipment used.
- To become an integral part of the team of APC technicians and ensure product quality is achieved.
- Ensure thorough investigation and corrective actions are conducted at site for all complaints and ensure these are reported accordingly.
- To assist in keeping both APC and suppliers up to date with any issues highlighted internally or externally.
- To attend meetings as required with your line manager to discuss all aspects of production, maintenance and running costs of sites.
- To assist in the organisation of work maintenance schedules for installed systems.
- To work away and on other sites ensuring all H&S requirements are fulfilled.
- Any other ad hoc duties as requested by the Management Team.
You will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skill set needed for the role.
You will also join a structured Advanced Apprenticeship programme where you obtain a Level 3 Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship, so willingness to undertake this is necessary.
The Person:
- Minimum grade C in GCSE Maths, English, Science and another technical subject, or equivalent.
- Consideration will be given to candidates who have completed basic training prior to application.
- An enthusiastic individual with a flexible approach to their work.
- A keen desire to progress personally and to build a long-term future in an Engineering/Manufacturing role.
- Accuracy and attention to detail with good literacy and numeracy skills.
- An inquisitive and questioning mind and a desire to learn from others.
- A genuine interest in manufacturing.
- Good time management skills.
- Have a high regard for safety, quality and compliance.
- Good problem solving skills with a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent communication skills.
