The Position

Applications are invited for a Transport Manager to work at our Doncaster Site. This is a full-time permanent position, working 40 hours per week. 

As a Transport Manager, your duties and responsibilities will vary on the Company’s requirements but will include (but are not limited to): 

  • To manage multiple transport operations including Doncaster and Nottingham, which will include drivers, Weighbridge staff, planners and administration staff, to achieve and deliver KPI’s.
  • Analyse the supply chain with a focus on continuous improvement. Developing the supply chain strategy with the management team and deliver against the plan.
  • Be responsible for efficient cost management, ensuring this is monitored and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Driving cost efficiencies by minimizing accident damage and identifying cost saving initiatives.
  • To oversee the management of vehicle/trailer fleet ensuring all vehicles are legal, operational and are maintained to the required standard.
  • Liaise and communicate with customers and stakeholders.
  • Ensure a smooth and seamless running of the transport operations, which includes compliance of the vehicle wash, Garage and the Company’s collection services.
  • To plan an efficient operation of the vehicle fleet.
  • To be compliant with company procedures and statutory obligations for vehicle operations, health & safety and other legislation.
  • To be responsible for the recruitment, management and development of drivers, transport office and garage personnel.
  • To ensure that the driving team operates in the correct manner, ensuring individuals are SAFED trained and comply with the transport Fleet board standards.
  • Maintain driver records and drivers hours in line with EU Road Haulage legislation.
  • To create reports to monitor performance and budgetary KPIs and compliance submission.
  • Prepare detailed daily reports.
  • Ensure the Nottingham transport fleet is correctly maintained at all times ensuring the fleet is safe, compliant and meets the legislative requirements. 

The Person 

  • CPC holder with an excellent knowledge of the latest Transport Legislation
  • Strong H&S awareness.
  • Previous managerial experience within a fast-paced Transport Function (including FMCG).
  • Experience of working within a multi-site organisation.
  • An approachable and effective People Manager.
  • Fully converse in all Microsoft solutions to a professional standard.
  • A team player who is also able to work on own initiative.
  • Highly focused on cost management and budgetary controls.
  • Innovative approach, forward thinking, able to generate new opportunities for improvement.
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel as and when required.
