The Position 

Applications are invited for a Garage Supervisor based at our Exeter Site, working an average of 47.5 hours per week, working shifts as agreed with your manager. 

As a Garage Supervisor your duties and responsibilities will vary based on the Company’s requirements but will include: 

  • Control the inventory of all garage vehicle parts – fully inclusive of replenishment as and when necessary.
  • To be fully responsible for the vehicle / trailer service and MOT schedule of the fleet
  • Booking in the fleet for MOT in a timely manner and be responsible for filing of all vehicle and trailer documentation in line with DVSA legislation
  • Allocation of work to the garage employees.
  • Sign off all vehicles once roadworthy and fully passed service / MOT / repairs.
  • To be responsible for the vehicle wash operation and documentation.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover for the Transport Manager as required to ensure full completion of collections and operational compliance.
  • Complete staff wages on Tensa system as and when required.
  • Be part of the call out rota for breakdowns.
  • LGV driving as and when the needs of the business.
  • Comply and complete all audits undertaken in the garage.
  • Fully responsible for the H&S aspect of the garage.
  • Any other ad hoc duties as required by the Management Team. 

The Person 

  • Recognised qualification in maintenance of LGV vehicles and trailers.
  • Holding a Transport Manager CPC qualification would be advantageous.
  • Excellent understanding of the working parts of an engine and LGV vehicles/trailers.
  • Previous experience of working in a vehicle maintenance unit.
  • Full understanding of LGV compliance including records of service and MOT documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Be able to work well individually and within a team.
  • Previous experience of leading a team.
