The Position

Applications are invited for a Laboratory Manager at our Doncaster Site. This is a full time, temporary position expected to last for 6 months, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

As Laboratory Manager your duties and responsibilities will vary but will include:

  • The day-to-day supervision of the testing procedures employed within the laboratory.
  • Handling the technical aspects of any client enquiry or order.
  • Maintaining up-to-date copies of any relevant operating instructions procedures, test methods, and test specifications used in the laboratory, and ensuring all amendments are notified to the Group Quality Manager.
  • Ensuring the availability of any relevant operating instructions and test specifications to members of the laboratory staff requiring them.
  • Generating changes as necessary to the Laboratory Quality System, Procedures or Methods.
  • Maintaining validation, ring testing and calibration schedules for the laboratory tests and key pieces of equipment. 
  • Ensuring timely follow up of any corrective or preventive actions.
  • Compiling and authorising the issue of Test Reports.
  • Authorising any corrections or additions to a Test Report already issued, and authorising amendments to technical records.
  • Authorising the verbal or email reporting of test results to clients requesting them, and ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
  • Maintenance of UKAS and associated activities.
  • Training and development of Laboratory Staff.

The Person

  • You must have a recognised qualification in Chemistry.
  • You must be able to work using your own initiative.
  • Be able to work on your own or as part of a team.
  • Be able to communicate well at all levels.
  • Computer literate.
  • Have an understanding of UKAS
  • Good knowledge of ISO 17025 is essential.
  • Full Driving Licence.
