The Position

Applications are invited for a Temporary Transport Planner to work at our Doncaster Site. 

This is a temporary position which is likely to last for 8 – 12 weeks. The role will be reviewed after this time with a potential to extend/go permanent, depending on the requirements of the Department.   

This is a full time role, working a late/afternoon shift (ideally 3pm – midnight), Monday to Friday. 

As a Transport Planner, your duties and responsibilities will vary on the Company’s requirements but will include: 

  • Planning daily workload for vehicles based at both Doncaster and Nottingham sites.
  • Effective planning and utilisation of drivers and vehicles for deliveries and collections.
  • Effective route planning.
  • Dealing with queries by telephone and email from customers, employees and colleagues.
  • Dealing with driver hours ensuring they are compliant.
  • Planning fleet services and MOT's in accordance to the O licence requirements for both Doncaster and Nottingham sites.
  • Monitoring fuel levels at both sites and negotiating prices from suppliers when at the re-order point.
  • To provide cover for the Weighbridge Operatives during their break or holidays and sickness as and when required. 

The Person 

  • Good working knowledge of the transport industry.
  • Previous experience within a similar planning role.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly organised and efficient.
  • Be able to work well individually and within a team.
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Have good geographical knowledge.
  • Willingness to be flexible in approach to work.
