PDM Group provided food waste collection and recycling services at last week’s Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) show in Torbay, Devon.

The company provided a number of blue wheelie bins which were positioned all around the site for the disposal of food wastes from all canteen, restaurant and refreshment facilities.

Food wastes collected from the show were transported to PDM’s processing plant at Exeter for the production of biofuels which will be used for the generation of renewable energy.

“As CIWM is the premier event of its kind, it made absolute sense for PDM to work alongside the organizers to provide sustainable recycling of food wastes generated by visitors to the show.”

By utilising PDM’s services to reduce wastes going to landfill the organizers demonstrated their commitment to sustainability. Recycling the food wastes from the event into green energy has made a contribution to offsetting the show’s carbon footprint.”
